The patient presented with a very loose upper front tooth that had been hanging on for some time, though he knew it was not going to last. He hadn’t visited a dentist in several years and works in a public-facing role, making the issue immediately noticeable. He was struggling to chew comfortably and rarely smiled.
Initial assessment showed he required gum treatment and several fillings to stabilise his oral health. While his long-term goal was dental implants, we agreed to begin with a temporary denture following extraction.
The UL1 was removed, and a healing period was allowed for both the bone and gums to recover fully, ensuring a strong and healthy foundation for implant placement.
Six months later, the patient returned in excellent condition. He had followed all advice, his gums were fully healthy again, and there was no remaining decay. At this stage, he was ready to proceed with implants.
We placed three implants at UL1, UL6 and UR5 to restore function and allow him to chew properly once again. Over approximately three and a half months, the implants successfully fused with the bone.
After this integration period, the final teeth were fitted onto the implants, followed by a full airflow polish and clean — leaving him with a healthy, functional and confident smile.
